President, Injae Lee

- Expressed a vision for “a university of innovative education, research-centered focus, and regional leadership” -

Incheon National University (President Injae Lee) announced that the “Inauguration Ceremony for Injae Lee, the 4th President of Incheon National University (National University Corporation)” was successfully held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, the 20th, in the Grand Auditorium on the university’s Songdo campus.

The ceremony proceeded in the following order: introduction of distinguished guests, presentation of the president’s biography, flag-handover ceremony, congratulatory speeches, screening of the special video Voice of INU, inaugural address, and the singing of the university anthem.

The event was attended by over 500 participants, including major dignitaries and members of the university, such as Kim Hak-joon, Chair of the University Board; Ha Byung-pil, Deputy Mayor of Incheon Metropolitan City; National Assembly Members Kim Kyo-heung and Jung Il-young; Park Jung-joon, Chair of the Faculty Council; Kim Se-yong, President of the Alumni Association; Han Kwang-duk, President of the Student Association; former Presidents Park Jong-tae and Ahn Kyung-soo; Ok Woo-seok, Chair of the University Senate; Ji Yong-taek, Chairman of the Saeol Cultural Foundation; Lee Sang-duk, Commissioner of the Overseas Koreans Agency; Han Tae-joon, President of Ghent University Global Campus; Seo Seung-in, CEO of Kyeongin Ilbo; Kim Jong-chun, CEO of iTV Gyeongin Broadcasting; Bae Jin-kyo, Senior Advisor to the Democratic Party Leader; Kim Hyun-ki, Director of the Development Fund and CEO of Myungga Tower; Lee Kyu-yeon, Chair of the INU Sponsorship Association; and Park Sang-moon, former Executive Chair of the Incheon Sustainable Development Council.

In his inaugural address, President Injae Lee presented a vision to grow INU into a “national university that leads the future through change and innovation,” outlining specific goals to become a university of innovative education, a research-centered university, and a key national university serving the region.

President Lee holds a bachelor’s degree in Public Law and a master’s degree in Law from Seoul National University, an LL.M. from the University of Chicago Law School, and a Ph.D. in Economics from New York University. Since 2008, he has served as a professor at Incheon National University, including as Vice President for External Affairs. He has also served as President of the Korea Labor Institute, President of the Korean Association for Labor Economics, Chair of the Hanmin Policy Forum, and a member of the National Economic Advisory Council. He is currently serving as Chair of the Minimum Wage Commission.
