※ Pursuant to the Addendum to the Enforcement Regulations of the Incheon National University Regulations (August 28, 2015), the highest-grade restriction for course retakes does not apply to students admitted prior to the 2015 academic year. Such students may receive a grade of up to A+.
- Students admitted in the 2015 academic year: The highest-grade restriction applies beginning with courses taken in the second semester of 2015.
- However, the revised grade processing method, under which the previous grade is removed from the academic record, applies equally.
Grade Processing
- Once the retake grade is finalized, the previous grade is invalidated. Only the grade and credits earned through the most recent completion of the course are recognized.
- If a student applies to retake a course but is dismissed or takes a leave of absence before completing two-thirds of the class days for that semester, the previous grade remains valid.
- The grade earned through the retake is recognized even when it is equal to or lower than the previous grade.
- Once the retake grade is finalized, it cannot be removed except through academic re-completion.
- Credits for a course whose previous grade has been invalidated due to a retake are not included in the credits required for graduation.
- If a student receives an F after retaking a course, the previously earned grade, such as C+, is also invalidated. As the course will then be considered incomplete, students should exercise caution when applying for a retake.
- Any academic warning issued during the relevant semester remains valid even when the previous grade is invalidated due to a course retake.
Academic Re-completion
- Currently enrolled students who wish to repeat coursework due to poor academic performance or other reasons may apply for academic re-completion on a full academic-year basis.
- Returning students may invalidate the grades earned during the semester immediately preceding their leave of absence or during the applicable academic year and complete the coursework again.
- Once academic re-completion is approved, the grades earned during the applicable academic year or semester are invalidated. However, disciplinary measures such as academic warnings remain in effect.
- Once academic re-completion is approved, the approval cannot be revoked for any reason.
- Academic re-completion may be requested only for grades earned during regular semesters. Grades earned during summer or winter sessions remain valid.
