Established in the 2002 academic year, this department aims to cultivate experts on China through systematic education in various fields of Chinese affairs, including language, history, philosophy, culture, society, politics, and economics. In particular, the focus of the education is placed on understanding the overall culture that forms the depths of Chinese society.

Furthermore, this department aims to serve as a catalyst for sparking and revitalizing full-scale research on China in Incheon Metropolitan City, which is closest to and has the most extensive exchanges with China. It also seeks to contribute to the development of the nation and local community by providing comprehensive information on China, in conjunction with related majors such as the Chinese Trade major at the College of Northeast Asian Trade.
