Introduction
The Dept. of Electronics Engineering at Incheon National University was established at the time of the university's founding in 1979 and has steadily grown while producing a large number of graduates. With the municipalization of Incheon National University in 1994, the department laid the foundation for development into a prestigious department by recruiting excellent faculty and attracting outstanding students. Since then, it has continued to develop while contributing to the training of professional electronic engineering personnel as well as serving and developing the local community.
In 2006, we secured the IT Education Competitiveness Enhancement Project (NEXT) supported by the Ministry of Information and Communication, and we made a leap forward as a prestigious department in Korea by being selected as the best department in the 2006 academic field evaluation organized by the Korean Council for University Education. In 2016, we achieved a remarkable feat when the “DSP-IN-U Smart Device Talent Development Project Group,” composed solely of the Dept. of Electronics Engineering, was selected for the Capital Area University Specialization Project (CK-2).
Currently, the Dept. of Electronics Engineering has 18 full-time professors, approximately 540 undergraduate students, and about 30 graduate students dedicated to education and research. It also boasts an excellent educational environment, including classrooms equipped with state-of-the-art equipment necessary for lectures, laboratories equipped with various modern experimental and practical equipment, and track-specific practice rooms.
With Incheon National University’s transition to a national university and its relocation to the Songdo Campus, the Dept. of Electronics Engineering will be reorganized into the School of Electronic Engineering in 2024. By establishing the Electronic Engineering and Semiconductor Convergence majors within the school, we are preparing for another leap forward as a specialized school that simultaneously provides broad electronic engineering education and professional semiconductor education tailored to students' needs. We will continue our ceaseless efforts and development to cultivate talent equipped with international competitiveness and future-oriented expertise.
