Industrial Engineering of Management aims to optimize system output by combining professional knowledge and skills in engineering analysis and design principles and methods to design, improve, install, and operate comprehensive systems composed of humans, materials, and equipment, in the field of designing, improving, installing, and operating systems, as corporate systems become increasingly sophisticated and complex.

Since the opening of Incheon National University's College of Engineering in 1979, this department began as the Department of Industrial Management, was reorganized into the Department of Industrial Engineering in 1985, expanded with the establishment of an evening program in 1987, and has been operating under the name of the Dept. of Industrial and Management Engineering since 2006. All members are striving to make this a program that fosters competitive and excellent talent by actively promoting computer-based education, case studies, and field practice projects to meet the demands of industry.
